Frequently Asked Questions
General Questions
Neither format is better than the other, because both channel the exact same healing energy. In-person Reiki offers the comfort of physical presence, but Distance Reiki allows you to remain in your own familiar sanctuary. Because it saves you from travelling, it fits perfectly into a busy schedule—letting you get the full benefit of the session without the disruption of having to get into a car and drive through traffic right afterward.
To prepare, create a quiet sanctuary at home where you won't be disturbed. Put your phone on silent, dim the lights, wear your coziest clothes, and have a warm blanket nearby. During the call, we will start with a brief, gentle chat to check in on what your body and heart need. Then, simply get comfortable, close your eyes, and breathe. I will guide you into a relaxed state and intuitively begin the session. You may feel a soothing warmth, gentle tingling, or just a deep sense of stillness—there is no right or wrong way to receive. At the end of our session, we will talk about what we both saw and felt. I will send you a summary recapping our session together.
Reiki isn't a direct cure for medical conditions, but it acts as a gentle support system to lift heavy physical and emotional blockages. Think of it like clearing a leaf-clogged stream. Daily stress, anxiety, or trauma can block your energy pathways. By gently soothing your nervous system, Reiki dissolves these blockages for your inner vitality can flow freely again—giving your body and mind the quiet breathing room they need to find natural relief, balance, and deep emotional clarity.
You will likely log off from our session feeling deeply grounded, peaceful, and refreshed, like waking up from a deeply restorative sleep. You might notice a lighter emotional weight, less physical tension, or a clear mind. It is also completely normal to feel a bit dreamy or quiet afterward, meaning you might just want a relaxing evening to yourself to let the experience settle in.
That is completely okay, and the energy is still working beautifully beneath the surface. Everyone perceives subtle energy differently; while some notice physical warmth or a gentle tingling, others simply feel like they just had a wonderful, peaceful nap. Reiki naturally flows exactly where your body and mind need it most, regardless of what you consciously feel.
Reiki is gentle and safe, though it can sometimes trigger what feels like an emotional or physical release. In the day or two following our session, you might feel a bit tired, notice a mild headache, or experience a sudden wave of old, suppressed emotions. This is a very natural part of your body clearing out heavy energy. You can support yourself through this by resting and drinking plenty of water.
Yes, Reiki is a companion practice designed to work hand-in-hand with traditional medicine, never in place of it. It safely supports your ongoing healthcare by reducing anxiety, easing pain, and softening the emotional strain of illness. It functions beautifully alongside medications and therapies to nurture your body's natural healing process.
Only if that is what feels best for your body! Your physical ease and comfort are the absolute top priorities. If you prefer to sit upright in your favorite cozy chair rather than lying down, the session can be tailored entirely to whatever makes you feel most relaxed.
Please wear whatever clothing makes you feel most cozy, relaxed, and completely at ease. Loose, comfortable items like sweatpants, leggings, or a soft sweater are perfect. Since you are in the comfort of your own home, feel free to wrap yourself in your favorite warm blankets, too.
Not at all. Reiki doesn’t require any specific belief system or mindset to be effective. All that is asked of you is a simple willingness to sit back, open your mind, and allow yourself to relax. Many skeptics are pleasantly surprised by how deeply restorative and grounding they find the experience afterward.
Your only job is to surrender to the present moment and allow yourself to rest. You can expect a quiet, peaceful atmosphere where you can simply close your eyes, breathe naturally, and let me handle the rest. There is no right or wrong way to experience the energy—just let yourself receive.
Kids & Teens Questions
Absolutely! Children are naturally intuitive and beautifully receptive to energy. Growing up in a fast-paced world can easily overwhelm a child's developing nervous system, leading to sleep troubles, school stress, or big emotional changes. Reiki offers them a safe, gentle, and non-verbal outlet to release that built-up tension, helping them reconnect with their natural state of joy and balance.
Yes, children benefit immensely from distance Reiki. Because I work with their energy field remotely, there is zero pressure on them. This hands-off approach is especially wonderful for active kids or children who are highly sensitive to physical touch or new environments, ensuring your child feels safe and in control of their space the entire time.
Yes, Reiki is a beautifully supportive tool for children with ADHD, autism, or any unique developmental needs. Because it requires nothing from them—no talking, tracking, or masking—it provides a rare, peaceful sensory break. It works in perfect harmony with any ongoing treatments or therapies, helping to quiet overstimulation, ease difficult transitions, and foster a deep sense of internal calm.
Reiki is safe and wonderful for all ages, from newborns and toddlers right up to teenagers. For babies, it can help soothe colic and improve sleep patterns, while for older kids and teens, it provides a comforting, grounding anchor during life’s challenges. I simply adjust the session length to match your child’s unique developmental stage and attention span.
Because kids are naturally wiggly, their sessions are kept shorter, highly adaptable, and guided entirely by their comfort level. They don't need to track the screen or follow strict rules. We keep the entire experience fluid, playful, and completely stress-free.
Animal Reiki
Yes! Animals absolutely adore Reiki and are naturally intuitive when it comes to sensing energy. Because it is safe and non-invasive, your pet is allowed to choose exactly how they want to participate. They might choose to curl up right in your lap, or they may prefer to simply soak up the soothing energy from across the room.
To prepare, just keep their environment as quiet and familiar as possible during our scheduled time together. It helps to feed them ahead of time so they aren't restless, and you may want to close any windows or doors to block out loud neighborhood noises. It is also wonderful if you can let go of your own expectations—animals easily mirror our stress, and they will settle down much faster if they feel you relaxing, too.
During our session, your animal controls the session. Animals can freely move and direct the session; they don't need to stay in one spot. They can lay down and or move around or lay in your lap or near you. When they are done with the energy, they will simply walk away. Your main role is simply to be there for them and hold a quiet space for your companion. As I work with their energy, you may notice clear signs of relaxation—like deep sighs, heavy yawning, or simply falling into a deep sleep.
Hospice Reiki
Distance Reiki brings a gentle wave of comfort to hospice patients by helping to ease anxiety, physical pain, agitation, nausea, and insomnia. By creating a quiet sanctuary of peace, this gentle energy can offer profound support for a calm, serene passing when a transition is near. During a session, patients often experience a deep sense of warmth, gentle tingling, or a comforting stillness, and many easily drift into a restful sleep.
Caring for a loved one carries immense physical and emotional weight. Reiki provides much-needed relief by calming your nervous system, easing caregiver burnout, and loosening the physical exhaustion that comes with round-the-clock care. It offers you a quiet, supportive space to process your own grief and find your footing. This shared stillness brings a beautiful atmosphere of comfort into your home, helping you and your family remain softly, deeply present for your loved one's final transition.
